There is no such thing as "creating jobs". We have an economy locked on all sides by regulation and ownership. What happens is that powerful groups lock up resources and purposefully destroy jobs, limiting what a person is ALLOWED to do and then putting the squeeze on us until people capitulate and work for them, allowing them to keep the lion's share of profits from any given endeavor.

I went to Austin Stone Community Church today. It was a lovely church and had beautiful music. It is a church with lots of young and vibrant people who are enthusiastic about the Gospel.
So why didn't anyone get to know me?

Yesterday a homeless man cooked his eggs in the dry hill country southwest of Austin, Texas. As a result of his careless handling of the blaze, millions of dollars of damage damage was done. He has been arrested and charged with felony arson.
While I certainly sympathize with the home owners, I can't help but wonder at the logic of arresting a homeless man and threatening him with jail time for what amounts to cooking. We all know the complete dearth of resources available for the homeless. That more or less defines their situation as "the homeless". You can get an address and a chance at sleeping indoors at ARCH downtown, but as far as safe places to bathe, use the restroom, and cook, often enough an empty field behind a shopping complex is about as good as it gets. Many parking lot security guards won't even let you sleep in your car if they notice. So folks do as they're told, get their supplies, and move off into the hinterlands to take care of the basic necessities of life.

Much ink has been spilled on the subject of banks and what causes banking failures and banking panics. The complexity here is in trying to predict when a sudden upsurge in withdrawals will occur, but the fundamentals are actually a little less than complex. Bank panics are caused by fear that people will not be able to get money they deposited with a bank back out of it. This happens when they suspect something is wrong with the bank that will prevent payment of their deposit on demand. This is actually a very sensible fear that is combated in the modern era by several factors.
None of what I am about to tell you is in any way debated or disputed. If it shocks you, it's because you have been languishing ignorant for so long that you simply have no idea what is openly and commonly done in broad daylight in your own neighborhood banks. What is done certainly addresses the issue of a banking panic, but I wonder at the cost...

Today I made my first protest ever. It reminded me of The Bucket List. It just felt like something I needed to do once in my life. Besides, I don't think politicians hear from the common man very much, and I truly believe that's a big part of what's wrong with the world in general. I fantasize about us getting their attention somehow. “Oh, so you mean you seriously don't want to see your tax money funneled to people who already have millions of dollars because they were ripping you off with bad real estate loans? We thought you were just a little miffed because of delays in the next upgrade for World of Warcraft.”
